Principal, KCRise Fund, LLC
Caroline brings over 14 years of experience in Finance, FinTech, and GovTech from her time at The Principal Financial Group (PFG), Buchanan Management (privately held), EGOV (acq. 2021), and Harris Computer Corp (an M&A company out of Toronto). She was an early-employee and consistent sales performer at PayIt, a KCRise portfolio company that partially exited in 2019.
The Principal Financial Group and Buchanan Management provided her with a solid financial background, and she cut her teeth with FinTech/GovTech as Finance Administrator for the State of Indiana web portal providing fiscal oversight to $50M monthly eCommerce revenue. From there, she helped grow a young business unit at EGOV to the 5th largest revenue grossing out of 27. Upon researching acquisition targets for Harris Computer Corp, she met the founders of PayIt and joined that company. There, she had a front-row seat to the early stage startup life of finding new business, shaping product, and raising money. At each corporate role, Caroline grew business units by increasing productivity, unlocking new revenue streams, initiating strategic corporate partnerships, and driving net new business.
Caroline studied finance at the University of Nebraska, graduated the 2016 Kansas City Centurions leadership program, and was a 2020 KC Pure Pitch "Shark" participant.
She has been a featured panelist at Smart Cities Connect Virtual 2020, Smart Cities New York 2019, Smart Cities Connect Denver 2019, and North Carolina Municipal League 2019.
In her free time, Caroline enjoys visiting new cities (restaurants in particular), skiing, and donating to 100 Women Who Care - a philanthropy that analyzes quarterly pitches from non-profits for collective giving focused on women's issues, children & family, and animal rights.
